    UST Junior Tigresses lose to NU Bullpups

    The UST Junior Tigresses lost to the NU Lady Bullpups in the finals game of the UAAP 79 boys’ volleyball tournament held at the Adamson University Gym on November 30, 2016. The UST GVT settled for their third straight runner-up finish to the Lady Bullpups after losing to a 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 20-25 set to the NU GVT.

    “Talagang lumabas lang kung sino talaga ang beterano. May made-develop pa naman ‘yung mga bata kaya hindi kami dapat mahiya,” head coach Emilio, “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said in an interview. Season’s MVP Faith Nisperos registered 16 kills, while Finals MVP Princess Robles scored nine points.  After recording 46 kills, the Lady Bullpops took home their third straight UAAP girls’ volleyball Champions. Eya Laure was able to chalk up 20 points for UST.

    Meanwhile, the Junior Tigresses roared loud after beinging home three special awards. Team Captain Ejiya Laure was awarded Best Opposite Hitter while Maria Bernadette Pepito seized the Best Libero award, yet again. On the other hand, Senior High School student Baby Love Barbon was declared 2nd Best Outside Hitter. Below is a list of the complete set of award for this season’s tournament:

    • Best Libero: Ma. Bernadette Pepito (UST)
    • Best Setter: Joyme Cagande (NU)
    • Best Opposite Hitter: Ejiya Laure (UST)
    • 2nd Best Middle Blocker: Jewel Encarnacion (DLSZ)
    • 1st Best Middle Blocker: Thea Gagate (NU)
    • 2ND Best Outside Hitter: Baby Love Barbon (UST)
    • 1st Best Outside Hitter: Faith Nisperos (NU)
    • Rookie of the Year: Kathleen Keith Layugan (UE)
    • Most Valuable Player (Conference): Faith Nisperos (NU)
    • Finals MVP: Princess Robles (NU)
